Since 1985 the Miss Wisconsin Rapids Area Scholarship Organization has given away over $230,000 worth of scholarship assistance to young women in Wisconsin Rapids and the surrounding areas. Through our program we are committed to empowering young women not only through higher education, but also by giving them the skills to be successful in their future careers. Miss Wisconsin Rapids serves our community by promoting her own individual platform, acting as a spokesperson for Miss America's national platform (Children's Miracle Network Hospitals), and volunteering at local non-profit organizations throughout the area. Women between the ages of 17-24 residing in Wisconsin Rapids or the surrounding areas are eligible to compete.
We are a preliminary competition to the Miss Wisconsin and Miss America Organizations. The Miss Wisconsin Rapids Organization is run solely by volunteers.
The Miss Wisconsin Rapids Area Scholarship Organization is a local precursor to the Miss Wisconsin and Miss America Organizations. This means that the winner of the Miss Wisconsin Rapids Pageant will go on to compete at the Miss Wisconsin Pageant held in June in Oshkosh, WI. The winner will then move on to the Miss America Pageant the following September held in Atlantic City.
Joanne Wayne is the Co-Director of the Miss Wisconsin Rapids Area scholarship pageant. She is married to Mitch, has two grown daughters and works as the Volunteer Coordinator at Grace Lutheran Church. After seeing her daughter benefit from the scholarship award and workshop training she received from the pageant, Joanne looked into becoming a pageant volunteer. Now she has the opportunity to help young women discover their potential through this one of a kind program. A program that provides exponential personal growth through six weeks of pageant workshops; resulting in increased confidence, improved interview skills, the development of a personal platform and enhanced stage presence. She enjoys working with a team of volunteers who are also passionate about assisting young women as they earn scholarships to help them pursue their goals.
